About Event

Practical ways to dissect how AI systems work, with Auditing AI author Ellery Biddle

Join us for the next monthly AI Coffee Chat in the Technical.ly newsroom.

SPEAKER: Ellery Biddle, Philadelphia-based journalist and co-author of Auditing AI (MIT Press, 2026, review), will walk through practical methods for examining how AI systems actually work—and where they fail. Drawing from her book's framework for independent AI audits, she'll share approaches researchers, practitioners and journalists can use to hold technology makers accountable when their products cause harm. Ellery brings a decade of experience in tech accountability work, including roles at Ranking Digital Rights and Harvard's Berkman Klein Center.

Normal programming: Everyone introduces themselves and shares a recent AI use-case, and then we have a speaker go deep on their workflow and experience! Questions encouraged, and all are welcome!

Join us for our monthly practitioner's focused coffee chat in the Technical.ly newsroom. No futurism, no philosophy. This is a practical gathering of friends sharing real-world AI use cases. Come to listen and share.

Come to the 12th floor of 601 Walnut Street, the Curtis Center. Enter on the 7th Street side, ignore security and just take the elevator to the 12th floor (using the tablets to choose the floor and be told what elevator). Off the elevators, turn left and come down a short flight of stairs to find us at Technical.ly.
